On June 6, 2013, several business in the Quaboag community opened their doors to welcome Quaboag students for Job Shadow Day. This event is in its second year and continues to grow. Thirty three juniors participated in the event this year! Students were able to shadow doctors, teachers, engineers, veterinarians, electricians, bakers, and small business owners to name a few. The experience was quite valuable and allowed the students to participate in a meaningful, thoughtful way. Many students were determined to continue pursuing the job they shadowed while others had a changed their mind after the experience. Either way, it is valuable for these students to go through that process of elimination, to get one step closer to finding the career path for themselves. The guidance department would like to offer our sincere gratitude to those that continue to support this event by hosting our students.
"Dr. Faust allowed us to be in the operating room and explained the monitors, medicine, and what we should be looking for. He let us feel the patient's pulse and how it slowed down as the patient was given anesthesia."
"What I liked about the job shadowing experience was it really showed me what the future may look like for myself, and it was an eye-opener."
"I got to watch a surgery which was exciting and also what happens when a dog goes into cardiac arrest."
"I enjoyed learning about how to run and operate a business."
"I learned about how to use CAD software to make my own 3D designs."
